Community Events That Make Sustainable Fashion Simple

Clothing exchanges, mending workshops, and circular economy education designed for neighborhoods, schools, and community partners.

Past Events and Community Collaborations

Mending Workshops

Repair circles and hands-on community mending events that teach people how to extend the life of their clothing. These gatherings inspire creativity, self-sufficiency, and a deeper connection to personal wardrobes.

Community Clothing Exchanges

Clothing swaps hosted across Columbus and Bexley — designed to be welcoming, organized, and zero-waste. These events help hundreds of garments find new homes every year.

 Speaking, Panels & Community Education

Highlights from presentations and panels with the Solid Waste Authority of Central Ohio (SWACO), the Ohio EPA, Ohio State University, Rotary, libraries, schools, and community partners across the state.

Community Textile Collection Pilot

Last summer’s textile-waste collection pilot in Columbus — designed by Circular Thrift and run by SWACO with partners including Goodwill Columbus the Ohio State University — let residents drop off worn-out, stained, or damaged clothing (items unsuitable for donation) instead of sending them to landfills.

The pilot collected over 26,000 lbs of such textiles, which were turned into products like insulation or filling — to test the feasibility of a long-term textile recycling program for Central Ohio.

  • I’m so excited that Circular Thrift has come to fruition. I’m constantly looking at ways I can minimize my environmental impact, and CT fills a gap I hadn’t even considered. Lisa makes participation easy and fun, all while making a difference in our community and for the environment. I love her hyper-local focus.

  • Circular Thrift swaps are the best! I have been able to swap out most of my kids clothing and some of my own for great high quality pieces. I love giving clothes a second life!

  • Lisa is a visionary who is challenging society’s current beliefs about sustainability in fashion. Lisa’s infectious personality, local approach to system-wide change, and ability to unite our community are just some of the things that attracted me to Circular Thrift. Lisa’s experience in textile production, coupled with her ability to think outside the box, is what will change the way we think and experience fashion, one community at a time.

  • Circular Thrift’s guide to starting a community clothing reuse program is a fantastic, easy-to-follow resource for anyone looking to cut down textile waste. It breaks down every step—from rallying community support to organizing clothing swaps—with practical tips that make the process feel totally doable. This guide is inspiring and perfect for anyone wanting to build a sustainable, community-driven reuse program. I’m excited to share it with my local sustainability group!

  • This ebook is so inspiring! As someone who has been interested in sustainable fashion for a while now, it was so nice to see how a circular economy can be encouraged in my own local community. I would recommend this to any driven individual who cares about the environmental impact of their clothes and wants to help make a bottom-up change. Lisa makes it so simple!
